Annie Ashby, MSW
Clinical Care Manager
My Role
When working with clients, I focus on a client-led self-empowerment approach. I like to dig deeper into the motivating forces within an individual’s life and work on planned change programs as a team to achieve goals. I am informed by client dignity and self-worth, social justice, and environmental and social barriers to change.
I have a diverse background of social work experience, ranging from large-scale government services to boots on the ground nonprofits. This has afforded me opportunities to practice unique approaches, such as wilderness therapy programs and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA therapy). Prior to Whitmire, I worked with Cascade Public Schools, serving all school-aged children and teens requiring social work services. Additionally, my work at Cascade Medical Center further expanded my knowledge through serving aging populations and familiarizing me with mental and physical health needs that may arise at all life stages.
Working Style
My work style consists of four attributes that I believe lead to the best possible relationships with individuals I serve and colleagues. I emphasize philosophy in my work to utilize different approaches in answering big-picture questions, as these can evoke strong emotions and feelings. From there, I move into perception and empathy. Understanding the language, feelings, and moods of those I serve is vital to being empathetic as I support them in their journey and provide the best care possible. Finally, I firmly believe my enthusiasm is essential. At my core, I am cheerful and positive. One of my greatest joys is celebrating and sharing successes.
Beyond Concierge
I believe in the healing powers of the outdoors and am often found in the wilderness of the Cascades. My favorite outdoor activities are rafting on alpine lakes, skiing, hiking, sport rock climbing, and trail running. I am a life-long learner, social justice advocate, and passionate member of my communities.
